MISSED APPOINTMENT POLICY (GRADY "NO-SHOW" POLICY)

Students who arrive more than 10 MINUTES late will not be seen by their advisor. If a student contacts his/her advisor (by email or phone) before missing a scheduled appointment, the student may be seen at the advisor’s discretion before newly admitted students are advised. Students who do not have email access and cannot reach their advisor by phone may leave a message prior to their appointment time with Dr. Diane Miller, Director of Undergraduate Services, at (706) 542-2526.

Students are considered a "No Show" for their advising appointment if they:

  • Do not schedule an appointment during the proper co-hort period, specified by advisors in an e-mail at the beginning of the semester; OR

  • Arrive more than 10 minutes after their designated appointment time; OR

  • Miss their appointment and do not contact their advisor in advance.

"No Shows" will be able to reschedule their advising appointment after New Admits have been advised.

Under UGA policy, students must meet with an advisor before they can be cleared to register for classes on OASIS. Therefore, students who are "No Shows" will not be cleared to sign up for classes until their re-scheduled appointment time. Students who are ”No Shows” for their advising appointment forfeit their guarantee of two Grady classes for the following semester. Depending on course availability, they may receive one class or no Grady classes at all.

REGISTRATION

  • Advising is mandatory. Students must meet with their academic advisor each semester before being cleared to register for classes.

GRADY COURSES POD INFORMATION

  • All Grady courses, except for the introductory courses (ADPR 3100, ADPR 3850, TELE 3010, JOUR 3310), require a POD (Permission of Department).

  • You will receive a POD form during your advising appointment. Complete and return this form by the deadline provided by your advisor.

  • Students must attend their advising appointment to obtain a POD form.

  • PODs are granted based on a priority system, with graduating seniors having the highest priority (see your advisor for the complete priority listing).

  • You will not be able to request any PODS until you have been advised.

DEGREE AUDIT REPORTS (DARS)

  • During your advising appointment, you will receive a copy of your DARS. The DARS outlines all requirements for completion of your degree program and indicates which courses you have taken and currently are taking.

  • Review your DARS thoroughly. Contact your advisor if you have questions.

COMPLETING REQUIREMENTS

  • Keep all of your advising forms and DARS in one folder so you can track your progress. Bring this folder with you to each advising appointment.

  • It is your responsibility to fulfill all requirements for graduation. Review your degree requirements using the online Bulletin and make a list of questions for your advisor before your advising appointment.
