Grady College students will be housed at historic Trinity College, founded in 1555 and one of Oxford's most distinguished colleges. The college is ideally located in the center of the city and has been praised for its architectural beauty and friendly atmosphere. The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity (formerly the International Advertising Festival) is a global event for those working in advertising and related fields. The seven-day festival, incorporating the awarding of the Lions awards, is held yearly at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes.
Often called the world's biggest ad festival, the annual event commonly attracts thousands of delegates from around the world attend the festival to view shortlisted work, attend seminars, workshops and master classes. The week's activities include four award ceremonies as well as an opening and closing gala. Thousands of ads from all over the world are showcased and judged. Each June, a contingent of students from Grady's Advertising Program attends the festival to immerse themselves in what the advertising world has accomplished over the past year.
Portuguese Flagship Program
The University of Georgia is home to the first and only Flagship Program in Portuguese funded through a grant from the federal National Security Education Program.
Students accepted into the program spend a full academic year (February to December) in Brazil where they take advanced language and Brazilian culture classes as well as discipline-specific classes. Additionally, students are required to do professional internships.
The Department of Advertising and Public Relations has worked with the UGA Portuguese Flagship Program to coordinate internships in Brazilian advertising and public relations agencies.
Emily Escoe, a public relations major, is the first Grady student to be accepted into the UGA Portuguese Flagship Program. She did an internship with a PR agency in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
