Teaching Specialty
Dr. Sweetser teaches public relations courses, such as public relations communication (ADPR 5920) and public relations research (ADPR 3510). She is currently a Lilly Teaching Fellow.

Research Interests
Dr. Sweetser?s research focuses on the use of Internet technology in political public relations and communication. Specifically, she has researched Web communication such as blogs and looked at the personalization this tool offers organizations when used as a public relations tool or political candidates use during campaigns. She primarily uses quantitative methods and conducts surveys (Web-based and/or paper & pencil), multi-cell controlled experiments, and content analysis. She has authored or co-authored articles in Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, American Behavioral Scientist, and Mass Communication & Society, among other journals. Previously, she was recognized as a Louisiana State University Flagship faculty member and ?Rising Star,? she was also named Outstanding Graduate Student Researcher in College of Journalism & Mass Communication at University of Florida.

Experience
Dr. Sweetser has more than a decade of professional public relations experience in military public affairs and non-profit corporate public relations. Since 1996, Dr. Sweetser has worked in Navy Public Affairs as both an enlisted media specialist on active duty and a commissioned public affairs officer in the Navy Reserve. She currently supports U.S. Navy Central Command/5th Fleet in Bahrain as a drilling Navy reservist. In her civilian life, Dr. Sweetser worked for nearly 2 years as the Web editor for Shands.org on the corporate communication team for Shands HealthCare Marketing & Public Relations. Dr. Sweetser is an accredited public relations professional (APR). She taught at the Louisiana State University immediately prior to joining the Grady faculty.
