A weekly series of Grady students highlighted for their exciting and innovative internship opportunities. Written by Yarbrough-Grady intern Paula Bryant.
Cylla Senii, a senior majoring in advertising with a certificate in music business, experienced the fast-paced world of advertising as an account management intern at global advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi in New York City during the summer.
A Grady Ambassador with five previous internships, interning at Saatchi & Saatchi boosted Senii’s understanding of global advertising and communication.
From assisting in developing advertising campaigns to enjoying the view of Manhattan from the Saatchi & Saatchi office, Senii embraced the culture of a global advertising agency.
“I worked in an environment that fostered learning on a daily basis,” Senii said. “I was constantly doing different tasks each day, and that’s what made my internship so fulfilling and exciting.”
Senii primarily worked on Saatchi & Saatchi’s Pillsbury brand account. She assisted in developing the new Pillsbury campaign, “Let the Making Begin”— analyzing markets and creating extensive presentations for six Pillsbury products. In addition to her research, Senii participated in strategic briefings with the agency’s creative directors, providing marketing and social media trends that impact Pillsbury’s success.
“I was able to see the development of the Pillsbury campaign from start to finish,” Senii said. “I helped with commercial production, assisted with recording sessions, selected footage and contributed to casting, and now I get to see the commercials I helped develop on television.”
Aside from her work on the Pillsbury account, Senii helped create a strategic and creative campaign for Kool-Aid and wrote two articles for the Saatchi & Saatchi New York City blog.
Senii credits her professional connections as the reason she landed the internship position at Saatchi & Saatchi.
“I found out about the internship through a connection on LinkedIn,” Senii said. “This really is an industry about your connections and who you know, and I’m thankful I was given this opportunity.”
