The Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication is known not just for its motivated, bright students, but also the real-world value of the programs it offers to them. For the second year, student members of the University of Georgia's AdClub and the Public Relations Student Society of America at UGA (PRSSA) will team up to host one of the most exciting networking events of the year, ADPR Connection.

ADPR Connection, a networking event planned and created by Grady students, for students, will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 23, in the Tate Student Center's Grand Hall. Sponsored by Porter Novelli and BBDO, it will offer students the chance to network with some of the most successful professionals in the advertising and public relations fields.

In recent years, more than 500 students across a variety of majors and 50 public relations, advertising and digital companies have attended the networking event.

This year, ADPR Connection will offer a luncheon, four workshops, resume and portfolio critiques, a career fair and a downtown mixer. The luncheon, featuring keynote speaker Jodi Fleisig, Senior Vice President of Media Strategy at Porter Novelli, will focus on new developments in the advertising and public relations industries, particularly where the industries will be 10 years from now.

Following the luncheon, students can attend workshops including "#DigitalRevolution — the Impact of Social Media on the Industry," "The Key to a Lasting Impression — What Employers Look for in News Hires," "Off the Beaten Path - Oh the Places Your Degree Can Go" and "Reality Check - Life Post-Grady." The workshops will allow students to ask questions about the job market, interviewing skills, the importance of a digital presence, unique career paths and more.

Students can also network with professionals and discuss internship opportunities after the workshops at the career fair, as well as the downtown mixer.
