Survey: Lariscy, Ruthann, Springston, Jeffrey K., Thomas, Patricia.

Interviews with 300 patients at five Athens-area clinics providing free or low cost medical care indicate that 79 percent have mobile phones and 22 percent currently receive health-related messages by phone. About 70 percent use a computer to access the internet and half seek health information online. Detailed findings will be applied by new Athens Health Network, non-profit aimed at coordinating hospital and clinic care and helping low-income residents use local resources more effectively. Funded by Knight Chair research budget. Results being submitted for conference presentations and publication.
