Biographical Note
Dr. Melinda D. Hawley
Dr. Melinda D. Hawley is director of Public Service and Outreach in the Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia and associate director of the James M. Cox Jr. Institute for Newspaper Management Studies within the Grady College. She develops and directs conferences, seminars and workshops for professionals employed in the field of mass communication, particularly in the areas of management and technology. She also teaches writing, editing, and design classes in the Grady College. She has worked in the various journalistic capacities in the newspaper industry. She earned her bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from the Grady College. Her research focuses on newspaper readership, particularly by women and teens.
