Tatiana Krasoukaya and Stanislav Zhurylo

Stanislav Zhurylo, chief editor and one of the owners of the Evening Cerkasi:

"The problem of Ukranian journalism is that the journalists cover topics of interest to them. What meetings government leaders had and so forth. I also was attracted to this type of story. I was shocked when I learned that this type of story is not so interesting to other people. Our formula is to cover topics of interest to people. We are successful."

"We have a theory we call the theory of cakes. We cook cakes that are liked by our clients, not those we like ourselves. For Americans this may be common sense. Here it is a new approach."

"We started to understnad that a newspaper is a business. We learned how to do this business."
