Abstract

Two U.S. surveys, known as the Annual Surveys of Journalism & Mass Communication , have operated with a common methodology now for more than a decade. They provide key labor force statistics on supply, demand, and compensation levels for educators and industry leaders in the field. This article provides a brief history of these surveys, details their methodologies, and highlights some of the key findings from an examination of trends in the data.
