The Grady Ambassadors are joining with UGA F.O.O.T.S.T.E.P.S. to help them reach their goal of raising $14,000 to build a school in Mali.

Stay tuned for more information about the Music in Mali concert to be held in April.

F.O.O.T.S.T.E.P.S. is an organization at the University of Georgia dedicated to raising awareness and promoting the eight U.N. Millennium development goals to students of all backgrounds across the nation and to stimulate future activism through creative projects, dialogue, and action.

Our current initiative is our ‘Get Schooled’ awareness and fund raising campaign. In association with the non profit African Sky’s “10 in 2010” project, we hope to raise at least $14,000 to build a school Mali. Through this fund raising, we are focusing on the U.N. Millennium goal of Universal Education, which we hope will bring enduring development to impoverished areas in our effort for sustainable social change.

Our largest fundraisers for the initiative will be two basketball tournaments, a concert series, a 5k walk/run, and T-shirt sales with the slogan “Get Schooled.” Along with these events, UGA Footsteps members will host percentage nights at Atlanta and Athens area restaurants. The final event of the year will be a charity auction of Atlanta professional sports team memorabilia and the products and services that local businesses donate. The auction will be Dec. 2.

Throughout the fall and winter, FOOTSTEPS will be at the University of Georgia promoting our various events in order to educate all young adults on global development issues.
