Outreach, involvement, development and fun are the goals for the 2009-2010 Grady College Ambassadors.
The Grady Ambassadors, a group of 22 students who represent Grady College at internal and external events, plan to reach their goals with new activities and events designed to benefit Grady students and the community.
Events will include a "Battle of the Bands" to benefit charity, Grady student appreciation days, peer advising and mentoring, and professional development programs.
"We have an amazing, diverse group of students this year and I’m ecstatic about the upcoming year," said Karen Andrews, Ambassador adviser and Grady's special events and marketing coordinator.
"Grady Ambassadors has been my favorite student organization that I’ve involved myself with at UGA," said Davis Adams, an Ambassador and senior publications management major. "Not only has it given me a chance to keep a pulse on my school and represent the students, but it’s also given me an understanding of and a network to the communications industry."
The group plans to host an Open Mic with Dean Cully Clark in September. The Open Mic event will enable the Grady student body to express any concerns, rave about their program, professor or class, and get questions answered.
"I am really excited to share my enthusiasm for Grady with other potential Grady students," said Jordan Biasetti, a senior magazines major.
The Ambassadors are putting effort into making this year better than ever before.
"In the spring, the Ambassadors are putting together a "Battle of the Bands" to not only promote the talented local bands here at UGA, but also to raise money to build a water supply in a less-fortunate country that will provide fresh water for its community," said Karli Figueroa, a senior advertising major. "My involvement with the Grady Ambassadors makes me realize that it is possible to better the world and solidifies my pride and love for the University of Georgia."
The 2009-10 Grady Ambassadors and their majors are Davis Adams (publications management, '09); Faraz Ahmed (broadcast news and finance, '10); Jordan Biasetti (magazines '10); Brittany Binowski (magazines '10); Grant Cohen (advertising '10); Magan Cowart (public relations '10); Carolyn Crist (newspapers '10); Debbie Ebalobo (public relations '10); Karli Figueroa (advertising '10); Imann Gad (magazines '10); Heather Gallagher (advertising '10); Courtney Gramhaus (public relations '10); Kelli Hammock (public relations '10); Allan Lansche (telecommunication arts '10); Ash Luckose (newspapers '10); Marc McAfee (broadcast news '09); Haley Murphy (broadcast news '10); Lizzy Nephew (public relations '10); Chris Pamm (telecommunication arts '10); Erin Parks (telecommunication arts '10); Scott Sparks (advertising '10); and Drew Wheatley (magazines '09).
