Outreach
The Faherty Laboratory is often used for events which take media management education beyond the traditional classroom. The Faherty Lab partners with various other organizations to make management come to life. These are some of our partners and the events they've sponsored recently in the Faherty Lab.

Georgia Association of Broadcasters 1998 Institute Survey

Following their annual institute held each winter on the University of Georgia campus, the Georgia Association of Broadcasters commissioned the research team in the Faherty Laboratory to conduct a survey of the GAB membership. To read more of the survey results click here.

James M. Cox Center for International Mass Media Training and Research

The Faherty Laboratory and the Cox Center partner on various research and outreach projects that benefit students and many individuals and organizations outside the University. Visiting journalists and scholars from around world hosted by the Cox Center often take part in Faherty Laboratory-sponsored discussions on management issues, while the Faherty Lab offers its facilities for use by the Cox Center and its visitors.

Georgia Scholastic Press Association

A dozen high school newspaper editors and their advisers gathered in the Fall 1999 semester for a Saturday seminar on management issues for high school newspapers. The Faherty Lab's teleconfering equipment enabled the editors to conference with experts from the Student Press Law Center in Northern Virginia for updates on first amendment issues for high school journalists.

James M. Cox, Jr. Institute for Newspaper Management Studies

Each summer, college newspapers from around the nation come to Athens for a week of intensive training on how to successfully run a college newspapers. In 1999, the attendees includes college editors from Russia. The James M. Cox, Jr. Institute for Newspaper Management Studies sponsors the College Newspaper Editors Institute.
