The Henry
W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication and the University
of Georgia dedicated a garden entranceway to the College to Mrs. Betty
Gage Holland of Atlanta on October 14, 1998. At the same time, the
College announced the creation of a seminar
room in the College in honor of Mr. William Holland, Mrs.
Holland's husband.
Mrs. Holland
supports the James M. Cox Jr. Center for International Mass Communication
Training and Research and the James M. Cox Jr. Institute for Newspaper
Management Studies, both housed in the Grady College, as living
memorials to her late husband, James M. Cox Jr., who headed Cox Enterprises
and Cox Broadcasting Corporation from 1957 until his death in 1974.
Support for the Cox Center and the Cox Institute come to the Grady
College through The Jim Cox Jr. Foundation of Atlanta, which Mrs.
Holland established.
